Firm Foam Ink Pad Tips

Another great tip from Convention!

Firm Foam ink pads are amazing!  They provide better ink coverage and just a light tapping on the ink pad produces a flawless image!

Since these new ink pads release more ink onto your rubber stamp, you'll notice that you may need to
re-ink the pad more often.  (I do recommend purchasing a re-inker when you purchase a new ink pad.) What if you don't have a re-inker and your not getting the ink coverage you need?

Here's a handy little tip!  Using an old metal spoon (or plastic with no rough edges) or bone folder, gently swipe along the ink pad from the edges to the center pushing the ink back to the center of the pad where you need it.

Something Else to Note:

Five ink colors have undergone formula changes to improve functionality and color stability.  These colors are:

  • Basic Black
  • Basic Gray
  • Marina Mist
  • Perfect Plum
  • Tempting Turquoise
While using the new ink formula in the old Stampin' Pads (the felt pads) is fine, Stampin' Up! does not recommend using the old ink formula for these five colors in the the new firm foam pads.  (Refills purchased after April 30, 2012, will contain the new formulated ink.)

Stampin' Up! also does not recommend using the Basic Black Stampin' Pad on Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock.  Instead, they recommend the StazOn Ink Pad.   (item #101406;  $7.95)
