Hydrangea card - Shading and Dyeing Ribbon Technique

Have you had a chance to see the new Best of Flowers stamp set yet?  When Stampin' Up! came out with this set, I was so excited to see that the hydrangea image was back from a retired hostess set.  The original hydrangea was a little larger but I really like this size too.  Makes for a quick and cute card!

The Whisper White card stock is cut to 4 X 2.5" and the Black card stock is cut to 4 1/8 X 2 5/8".  I used the Paper Doilies in the background as well as embossed the Elegant Eggplant card stock using the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder (with the Big Shot).  To see how to color the hydrangea and to dye the ribbon, watch the video below.

This card was a CASEd card from my upline, Sharon.  (Do you know what it means to CASE something?  It means Copy And Share Everything.  Isn't it nice that in this day in age with Pinterest, Facebook, and tons of blogs, we don't have to try and reinvent the wheel?  Just find a design, layout or color scheme you like and go for it!  Just remember to always give credit where credit is due.)

We'll be making this card (along with an embossed butterfly card) at our next monthly stamp times in May.  If you'd like to come and make the cards, the cost is $5 or free is you place an order.  Come try out a new technique!  We'll be using daubers and ink pads to color in the hydrangea flower and learning how to dye the Baja Breeze seam binding to create a variegated ribbon.

If you're not able to attend in person but would still like to see how it's done, be sure to check out the video tutorial.  So much fun!

Happy Stamping!
