Makeover Monday - From Christmas to Birthday

Let me start today's post with a confession - I keep TONS of cards that I receive.  It doesn't matter if it was a swap card from 4 years ago or a card someone sent me in the mail yesterday.  I have a hard time purging my cards.  Are you the same way?  I have no trouble at all letting go of retired stamp sets, punches, etc. but for whatever reason, cards tend to pile up in boxes in my closet.  And, I know that they're doing no good in a box in a closet.

Ok.  I digress.  So, I came across a Christmas card in one of those previously mentioned boxes that was created by Maggie Patterson and there's just something about the layout that I really like.  Maybe it's the simplicity of the design.  Whatever it was, I knew I had to make it into a Makeover Monday card.

Here's her pretty Christmas card:

And below are the cards I created based on this initial design:

I'm really excited with the way these birthday cards turned out.

Well, with my BOGO Sale and Catalog Kick Off coming up, I'm thinking it's time to purge most of the cards I have stashed in my closet.  But, I know I'll want to keep some that catch my eye so they can be brought back into the light as a future Makeover Monday cards.

Now it's your turn!  Go through some of your card stashes and find old cards that need to be revived and refreshed.
The inspiration is there in those old cards!

Makeover Monday: Washi Tape and Bows

Today's Makeover Monday card features some of my favorite products - Washi Tape and the Bow Builder punch.  What a great combination it is!  If you're in a hurry and need a cute card, this one is easy to copy!

This was my original card I had made for my stamping ladies back in April.  It features the Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape (tomorrow, June 2nd, is the last day to order this!) as well as the Lovely Amazing You stamp set (very cute set!).

When I saw the new Cherry on Top Designer Washi Tape, I just knew what card I had to make again. The card also features several of the new 2015 - 2017 In Colors - Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush.  They're so bright and cheery!

The sentiment "You're Fabulous" comes from a new stamp set called A Whole Lot of Lovely (receive it for FREE with your order of $150 or more; part of the host rewards program).

Tips and Tricks for these cards:
  • Use any three colors of Washi Tape.  Just make the lengths a little bit different.
  • Hold the Washi Tape rolls together to see what order to put them in on your card.
  • Place the middle strip of tape down on your card first.  Add the right and left sides next to it.
  • Punch two sets of pieces from the Bow Builder punch to make one bow.
  • Measurements for the two cards:
Card base is 4 1/4" X 11".  Scored at 5 1/2" and folded in half.
    1st mat (Cucumber Crush) is 3 3/4" X 5".
    White card stock is 3 1/2" X 4 3/4".

The new 2015 - 2016 Annual Catalog goes live tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2nd.  It's a special day because not only can you order from the new Annual Catalog, it's also the last day to order from the 2014 - 2015 Annual catalog and the Occasions Catalog!

Be sure to read this previous post about all the "ins and outs" of June 2nd and how you can maximize your savings on your favorite stamping products!  You'll be glad you did!

Happy stamping,

Makeover Monday - Mother's Day and Father's Day Cards

Going through an old box of cards, I came across this Father's Day card and just knew this would be a good one to makeover using new stamps and paper.  Once I got started, I just couldn't stop with one card.  So today, is a bonus!  It's Makeover Monday with two "made over" cards - one for Mother's Day and one for Father's Day!   (Scroll down to see the video tutorials of both cards!)

Just take a look at how I turned this....

into this.....

Don't you just love it when a few simple changes to a card just jazzes the whole thing up?  If you have older cards laying around, take a look at each one and see what you can create when you spend a few minutes making it over!  I'd love to hear your stories of making over cards!  Share them in the comments section below.

Makeover Monday - Mother's Day Card Idea

I thought I'd try something new!  I'm trying a new post I'm calling "Makeover Monday" where I take a past card and make-it-over into something new!  It might be that the designer paper or card stock used has retired or that I want to change the design a bit or just simply change one element on the card to make it "pop".  Whatever the reason, the card will be made-over into something new and different.

So, today is the day for this card to have it's makeover!  This was a swap card I received a couple months ago from my friend and fellow stamper, Marilyn.  I love her card and the colors of the card!

The designer paper she used, however, is no longer available (it was part of Sale-a-Bration 2015) and I wanted to keep the design and just add a new designer paper and different color flowers.

Here's what I came up with:

What do you think?  Isn't it amazing how simply changing the colors and the paper can make such a big difference?

I've even created a video tutorial so you can see how I created the new Mother's Day Card:
