Adorable Little Birdies - Wetlands Card Samples

The Wetlands stamp set is one of those than can be easily missed when first looking through the Annual Catalog.  It didn't catch my eye in the book but boy did these card samples from Convention catch my eye!  The little birdies just too adorable!  Can you guess another thing they all have in common?  Go ahead, I'll wait.  Scroll down and look at the cards.  The answer is after the 3rd card!


This first card was created by Vicki Soni.  She used the Work of Art stamp set to create the background behind the little birds.  She also used the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder on the Crumb Cake card stock.  (The Big Shot is great for adding texture to any project!)

This next card was created by Cindy Ardis.  I like the texture she added on the Soft Suede card stock using the Chevron Embossing Folder.  She also used the Party Pennants Bigz die for the Pool Party piece that she stamped on.  (The Big Shot cuts out dies of all shapes and sizes, too!)

Carol Siers created this third card using the same little birdies.  The Soft Sky card stock was embossing using the Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  (More embossing ideas with the Big Shot!)

Hamburger Box and Pillowbox 3D Projects

Have I got some adorable 3D projects to share with you today!  Both of these were items I received as swaps during our annual Catalog Kick Off event for demonstrators in my downline.  (What a fun day of stamping that was!)

This adorable box was created by Kim.  She used the new Hamburger Box Bigz Die with the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. 

The rose was also made with the Big Shot using the Originals Flower Spiral Bigz Die.  I just love the way the rose looks!  The petals are created from 2 different punches - the large "petals" are from the Blossom Punch and the smaller "petals" are from the Pansy Punch.

This adorable pouch was created using a kit!  I love the Stampin' Up! kits!  Everything in the kit coordinates, they're easy to use and they make great gifts and/or favors for any event!  Have you seen all the different kits that Stampin' Up! caries?  This one is called A Little Sumthin' Sumthin' Gift Box Kit and it includes everything you need to create 10 of these adorable pillowboxes.

Stampin' Up! Spiral Flower Die

I love my Big Shot and use it all the time for embossing and cutting.  My class guests will attest to the fact that I can't seem to create a project without using it.  The Big shot goes everywhere with me.  I guess if I had to pick one product from my stamp room that is a must, it would be my Big Shot.

Well, when I saw this Spiral Flower die in the Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog, I should have known to purchase it.  But, I didn't and now after seeing all the amazing projects made with it at Leadership, I'm kicking myself.  Do you ever do that?

I guess there's just something about seeing it in person that makes all the difference.  So, guess what's being added to my wish list?  Check it out for yourself!

Once you cut out the spiral shape, simply start rolling the paper from the small end around a pencil (or something similar).  You'll finish at the center of the flower and the last little piece in the center actually covers the bottom of the flower (it kind of folds under).  Add a little hot glue at the bottom to hold it all together.  If you want a "fuller" flower, you can actually put 2 or 3 of them together and keep rolling as tight as you'd like.

It takes a little bit of playing with it to get the size and fullness you'd like.  I think the results are stunning!  What do you think?

Wouldn't that be a beautiful Valentine's decorations?  I could see this as a centerpiece on a wreath!

What's really clever is how the roses are held together.  Simply cut out the largest heart from the Hearts Collection of Framelits (it's the only scalloped one) and then cut out the next size heart from inside.  Attach all the rosettes on the heart "form" using hot glue.  It might be best to use a strong base like chipboard (instead of card stock).

Stampin' Up!'s Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot

I have to admit it.  I was a little hesitant about ordering the new Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot but I figured it was worth a try.  Am I glad I did!  This platform is amazing!

The platform is perfect for holding the Framelits and Edgelits in place (since they are metal).  Before the platform, the Framelits and Edgelits had a tendency to move when you were running it through the Big Shot.  Not any more!

Now, keep in mind, my clear acrylic cutting pads were in pretty bad shape (warped and had TONS of cut marks on them) and the magnetic platform still worked.  It definitely wasn't as strong a bond but it still worked.  I decided it was time to retire my old cutting pads and open my new set.  Wow!  I'm hooked!
